Lenovo SL500 is GREAT…
BUT
VERY VERY VERY HEAVY !!!
I had to sell it because imagine carrying that SL500 with 9-cell with some paper…. unbelievably heavy
I hate the way they try to advertise a low end laptop in that way, it’s not like a $700 or $800 T400 is really that expensive, even at the time of the review.
reliable>>>
Do we really need another Tiger Direct infomercial?
I can’t live without my litle iPod! :D
I won it in internet. If you want, you can try! visit gadgetton , com !
Take you chance now!.
u can play most MMORPG games with this laptop ;D
I just got my Lenovo SL500 today. I got it for under 500 pounds brand new. I am really excited. It is really great. I recommend this laptop to anyone who’s been thinking of buying a new laptop for themselves – in this price area. Not suited for gaming but I don’t care. I got mine for my studies and the occasional movie. I am digging all the features on it and really loving how the whole laptop feels. It runs cool and it looks smart. Best laptop I ever owned. Would recommend, great buy!
HP Sucks, I used two HP Laptops and they get heat problems quickly. When I used this Lenovo ThinkPad, it runs normally.
Although, HP are leading with business computers.
i love how reliable the thinkpads are. should you get the sl or the r series?
idiot.
i had an hp pavilion and that system sucks ass! if i wasn’t using a heat pad with a fan to suck away the hot air the right palm area got super hot. uncomfortably hot. got an sl500 and so far the performance has been very good. the hp may look groovier but i’d rather take performance over looks any day.
its a good design, look at hp ones, they heat like mad, because of the design. still i like the looks, it looks kinda serious. and not too flashy.
nice laptops but why do they look like they crap? they need to improved their design.. i know they’re good quality but they look so cheap.
did lenovo pay this guy
“With all the XP laptops I have had, they never seems up to the task of Handling XP and the lack of portability options leads me to assume this.”
wow. thats probably the dumbest things i’ve ever heard. forgive me if i didnt understand what you said accurately, but… laptops cant run XP??? probably you had the crappiest laptops possible.
It depends on what you consider fine. Try readyboost and see if it is finer. My sisters dual core with 1 gig is so slow I hate to even have to work on it for her. Its like going back to a pentium 500mhz with Windows 95. I have a dual core amd at 2000 with 4 gig of physical and 4 gig of readyboost and anything less is not fine to me.
Sorry, I apparently got lost, I thought we were talking about the minimum Vista requirements, you know, the smallest amount that would be considered “fine”…
It does not just load programs faster, If you crunch video you will see dramatic increases in speed. If you have a usb thumb drive use it for readyboost and see if you notice an increase in what you use your computer for.
What you’re saying is that you need extra memory so what you’re not using is used for prefetch to load programs faster..? You don’t need to use prefetch just to use your computer. Obviously the more ram you have the faster your computer will run… that doesn’t mean you *need* more than 1GB of ram…
Look up sfcache and readyboost. With 3 gig you will show to have 0 memory left because it caches in the prefetch and speeds your computer greatly.
With all the XP laptops I have had, they never seems up to the task of Handling XP and the lack of portability options leads me to assume this.
No less than 3 is a stupid recommendation, especially since you’re basing it off of experiences with a beta version of Vista. I use multiple machines with only a gig of ram and Vista basic, it runs fine and doesn’t lag doing anything, and I used them for a lot more than just web browsing. I also installed Vista business on a laptop with only 512mb of ram and it ran fine though lagged a lot if you opened any programs.
I beta tested the final release of Vista on a 1 gig machine. I would not recommend less than 3. The xtra memory is used as sfcache. I Use 4 gig on 64 bit ultra with 4 gig of readyboost.
…what makes you think that XP was made for desktops? Did we not have laptops in the year 2001?
Um, yes, it is. Vista Basic has no Aero, turn off the sidebar and there’s no problems. Too many people harshly overestimate the ram requirements Vista has.
